Can I go on holiday in the UK from 2nd December?

The regulations say residents of Tier 3 should not make non essential journeys. But is that a should or must not? We have been offered a refund by the company, but having been working from home all year, seen nobody since September, and going to a self catering holiday cottage where we equally don't plan on seeing anyone, I don't think necessitates a cancellation.

You are advised not to travel but it will not be illegal to do so.0

Would you need to cross the Scottish border?
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Where do you plan on going?0

It's a T3 into T2, a 70 mile trip. Nobody should have used the cottage before us as it's in lockdown, we are unlikely to carry it there. There were no plans to go to pubs, or attractions, or to bring two households together - just walking the hills. If we'd booked to go abroad we could go as gov.uk have made that clear foreign travel will be allowed. But not overnight stays in the UK. Why are they killing the UK travel industry but allowing the foreign ones to carry on?? I think regretfully we have to cancel and the cottage owner will lose out.

Why not go? Who is going to stop you. If everybody used their common sense the whole situation would be a lot better for everyone. Unfortunately the large minority of Covidiots with their me first attitude. Are forcing tougher restrictions to be implemented.1

I agree with Thrugelmir, if more people just used common sense and judgement, things would be a lot better but sadly they don't or can't (not sure which). By now everyone should know how this virus is caught and spread. It is the duty of all of us to limit the spread, in which ever way we possibly can. Many of us, especially the ones who do not go out to work even, can make an informed judgement. Weigh up to risks. If all is as described by Mar7tin I would go to wherever he has planned.0
