Identify this manhole/inspection chamber

Hi,
I have 3 manhole covers in my driveway and on lifting each of them looks like this.
2 have surface water pipes going in. These 2 were full of mud/silt which I have cleared.
My question is what are they? The bolted covers confused me.
I was thinking maybe they are catchpits for surface water designed to collect debris and before it drains into a soakaway.
Could these be some sort of sewer. There was no foul smell.
Would value thoughts.

How old is the house?
Surface and sewage have been kept separate for quite a while now, so I suspect you are correct in your assumption.

Not for sure. I have 7 around the house, 5 in the garden. Took me 18mts to figure out what each was for.2 are large concrete oblongs that can't be opened.One was for electric in some way. Street light to my electric box. Only found out when I tried to dig it up as a flower bed and found concrete leading between each.Another is a mystery and lays across the waste water pipes. I think it could be to do with the gas which is that side on my and my neighbours house.The ones for water are all circular.
