Michelin CrossClimate Tyres
On Kwik fits site is says
Please note, we will only fit Michelin CrossClimate tyres in pairs fitted to the same axle. For the best performance, we recommend they are fitted in sets of four and not mixed with any other tyre on your vehicle. I think ATS stated this last time i purchased some but cant find that statement now or on Michelin web site.
Is there a reason for this or is it just for sales?
I have e mailed Michelin also asking them.
Thanks

Seems sensible to me. What are you looking to mix them with?GT60 said:On Kwik fits site is says

LOL You want to basically fit a winter tyre with good grip in snowy / icy conditions on one side and a summer tyre on the other side with basically minimal grip?
You can imagine what is going to happen.
Completely different tread pattern.
Even better if you get the 4 ! You can use all year. The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon2 -
I was thinking of when i have to replace one with a cheaper brand and the spare is a different brand also.
Also what the implications would be by mixing the axle with a different brand (something like when you couldn't mix crossply and radial tyres on the same axle)Spending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0 -
One of your tyres wears out quicker than the other 3?
You can mix brands as summer type tyres have the same tread pattern.
But I would not mix with winter tyres, nor the cross climates they are an in between summer and winter and can be used all year round.
I have winter tyres stored, but do not use them, unless really heavy snow etc, since I put the cross climates on as they have a winter tread but can be used in summer. The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon1 -
            Right now I understand it.

TBH, I'd never mix tyre brands/models across an end anyway. End-to-end, yes. But not across.
And, yes, that means replacing a pair if I have a puncture on one and can't get a match - or if the tread depth would be too different.
And, yes, I regard even a full-size spare as temporary use.1 -

Although you could have a non repairable puncture and just need one, it does like from the OP they sell in multiples of two, minimum purchase 2 tyres which might not always make sense.Hasbeen said:One of your tyres wears out quicker than the other 3?

You’re not really making much sense here. You never have to replace one with a cheaper brand.GT60 said:I was thinking of when i have to replace one with a cheaper brand and the spare is a different brand also.

Think what OP is saying? At moment good brand/make of tyres on car but when replacing wants to go cheap?John_ said:

I had an MOT fail on my Continental winter tyre due to a bulge & could not find one anywhere, I ended up buying one in Poland & had it delivered to my brother in law in Warsaw.AdrianC said:TBH, I'd never mix tyre brands/models across an end anyway. End-to-end, yes. But not across.
