Refund on Service not received - paid by DD

Hi, I have been paying for my daughters dance classes by direct debit and the payment was taken at the start of November. Although the dance studio was closed due to Covid, the owner was going to provide online classes so took the payment as normal. As the month progressed we didnt receive any online classes. We have chased the owner who kept promising they would come however didnt. Eventually they agreed that they would refund the months money. We have asked when this will happen as this was over a week ago. They are now ignoring all correspondence and we still have no refund. Please can anyone advise on options to get the money back? Ultimately a letter before action and small claims court, but it's only been a week and we're not even through November yet, so I think you're a bit premature.0
