I'll try that with my next Tesco trolley load - sorry officer, I simply forgot to pay.

It is perfectly possible.  I walked out of a shop a couple of years ago with an unpaid item in my hand.  So did Richard Madeley

    I'd struggle to argue age-related forgetfulness! 😄
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I suspect that many young people have forgotten to pay at a petrol station.

I dunno, probably not worthy of too much analysis ... but anyway, to me parking was always a transitional activity (just made this silly phrase up).  I mean I parked in order to do something else ... I wanted to get somewhere, sometimes needed to get there quickly.  And no trolley load of stuff was there to remind me to cough up.

I used to routinely forget where my kids were ... I left my 6 week old son in his pram, in a shop ... it's incredible they survived.  People like me need good signage even more than yer average idiot, we need something there ...
