Strange new phone scam version

Thought I'd heard all the scam phone calls over the years, but this one was so different and so obviously a scam that I wish I'd stayed on the line longer to hear what came next.
Phone number 01702428150 rang - I answered - silence - about to hang up when recorded, well spoken voice asked me to hold on as I had to answer some security questions before my call could be transferred - more silence so I hung up. No idea who it was or what the continuation would be, and I'm not going to call back to find out in case this is part of the scam.
Googled the number but no record of it on the various scam reporting sites. Only info was that the area code was Southend-on-Sea, so probably be a cloned number.
