Should I buy a 'real' Christmas tree or stick with artificial?

Our local council take unwanted real trees as part of their recycling system. They collect from the kerbside. We are in North Herts. Maybe your council does that? I think they are shredded and turned into compost.1

If only MSE had a dedicated Christmas/special events board...?
Any kind of discussion of artificial trees surely has no place here.
And my small, slow growing tree lives in a pot out in the garden - had it for years now and I’ll bring it in when it is the proper time to put it up/decorate it and put it back in the garden for next year when it’s over.0 -

It might also be worth checking if the Forestry Commission near you do sales. We can sometimes buy "trees" that are actually the top six-feet of much bigger trees that are being harvested for timber locally, and these are perhaps a suitable environmental compromise.2

For those with limited funds why not look for an appropriately sized and shaped FALLEN branch. Placed in the corner of a room with careful decoration it can look like the real thing. Otherwise a FALLEN deciduous branch can look effective, especially if coloured white.1

Great suggestions here. Hadn't thought about just a branch TRH, definitely worth considering 🐈Just my opinion, no offence 🐈0
