Furlough and New Contract

Two days before the extension of furlough was announced, I signed a new contract with my employer taking me from full time to two days a week, it was the only way to keep a job and some sort of income as they couldn't afford to keep me on full time, with furlough expected to end. I had irons in the fire to make up the gap but this was stopped because of lockdown.
My employer says that I am not entitled to receive furlough as I am now on a part time contract and working those hours in the week. Can anyone advise if this is the case?
Thanks.

If you are working your full normal hours, you cannot be furloughed.mwkitching said:Two days before the extension of furlough was announced, I signed a new contract with my employer taking me from full time to two days a week, it was the only way to keep a job and some sort of income as they couldn't afford to keep me on full time, with furlough expected to end. The further period of lockdown isn't going to help your employers keep their business surviving either.I had irons in the fire to make up the gap but this was stopped because of lockdown.

If your contract is for 2 days a week and your working 2 days a week then you cannot be on furlough.1

I know, I didn't say it wouldn't. The lockdown is a disaster for a lot of people and organisations. But because my employer might struggle through a lockdown (they won't in this case) doesn't mean I can't ask a question to double check my position with regards to furlough.Thrugelmir said:mwkitching said:

Thanks to those who got back to me. It's useful to know my position and the answer is as I suspected anyway.0
