Depends if there is a connection of the names on credit reports ? ie if you have any joint accounts for loans, council tax ,utilities ,bank accounts etcPat38493 said:
Well I guess they don't want you to do that, but I'm just wondering how they would even know?Browntoa said:I believe the sign up in partners name at same address option may have been closed
If the names are different, surely they have no way of knowing whether it's the partner signing up, or simply the unconnected new resident at that address.
Re matching new customer prices - the deal I "negotiated" in Feb. was actually better than the advertised Sky deals, altho' admittedly it was for the "old" Sky HD box - I'm paying £35pm for a bundle that should have cost £74 pm as far as I can see.0 -
Thanks to everyone for your replies here.JJ_Egan said:Yes Freeview is via an Aerial on BT TV box .You need to bluff Sky by saying i will move to XX who is ££ cheaper .
I spoke to Sky after making as spreadsheet of all the various options including BT and freeview, and pointing out that over 80% of what I watch is in any case on freeview and the rest it would probably be cheaper to buy on a PAYG basis.
They almost immediately offered to put me on pretty much the same price as new customers would get for everything.
I have gone with that. I guess I could have pushed again to see if it could go down even more, but since they were offering me the new customer price I am happy with that for now.
This includes upgrade to Sky Q (which during my research I found out they should have already done for free anyway as a Sky Diamond VIP).
I guess I could have also tried to play them off against BT, but frankly I've had a few issues with BT in last couple of years so I've decided to go away from them for now - I will review it again in 18 months.0
