Letting Agent / Landlord credit check

What exactly shows up on a letting agent / landlords credit check? I want to move out and rent a place in Manchester in the coming months and am worried about the credit check because I have a default from 3/4 years ago and notices of a DMP from the same time. My credit score is in the 600s on Experian as 'Poor'. I've had a google and some websites seem to suggest I'll be fine as they only show public records which credit scores and defaults etc. aren't shown on... but other websites say they will be able to see my credit score...
Can somebody clarify exactly what they'll be Able to find from me? And if I might have issues renting from say a big letting agent who will run all the checks they can
Thanks

The credit check will only show CCJ or bankruptcy.
Your not buying a property only renting one

Well, yes, very good idea for a tenant to require a credit check on agents and landlords.  I've no doubt there are thousands of dodgy agents & landlords out there...

Further, any prospective tenant should require names and addresses of previous tenants so they may check with previous tenants and find out if agent and/or landlord is OK or not.  Never understood why more don;t demand this.

For the avoidance of doubt, this is a serious post.

Have you managed to secure the rental, as there’s so much conflicting messages online but when you actually look at equifax website it does state they only see public records co CCJ IVA bankruptcy.

Without your permission then the only thing the agents can see is public records (CCJ, bankruptcy etc). However, some agencies will insist on you giving them permission to see the full file before considering you for a property.
