Holiday used, but no notice

Hi all,  I don’t know if this is the right forum for this topic but here goes.
Back when I was on furlough I was still accruing holiday and when it got to July, after hearing nothing from my employer, I emailed HR and they informed me they used 2 weeks of my holiday whilst on furlough and an email had been sent out to inform everyone of this. Now I 100% did not receive this email so I was a little annoyed to find out my holiday had been used without any notice. I then returned to work and they made me redundant last month (I have since found a new job and everything is all good), but as my gardening leave is coming to a close I’m still feeling aggrieved that my holiday was used without notice.
My question is, am I entitled to anything like to claim the money back as they didn’t follow the correct protocol?

Were you paid 100% of your wage while on furlough? If not, did they top up your wage to 100% for the weeks badged as holiday?
  • When did they tell you this? When did you return to work? What percentage were you paid for those two weeks? Did other people get the email? (that would indicate that they did indeed send it)
  • They did top it up when my holiday was paid but I initially thought this was the Easter and May bank holiday top ups. I was paid the 20% top ups.
The holiday was split into 1 week holiday in June and 1 week in July and I went back to work 1st August.

Yeeh other people got the email but I only found out about it 2 months after the email was sent and I emailed HR to see how much holiday I had left and that’s when they told me. I guess because they sent the email to other people the intent was there?

If you technically didn't receive notice of the holiday, your remedy I fear is at an employment tribunal, and I doubt it is something that would be sensible to do for the amounts involved. You should receive twice the notice for the length of holiday, unless your contract of employment says otherwise.
  • If you had raised your objections at the time they could still have put you on holiday on days until you returned with the notice required anyway. If they have sent emails and you just haven't received them then I doubt its worth fighting.
