I may be required to travel for work in 2 weeks from the UK to Mexico City. Most flights im looking to book transfer via one of the US airline hubs (Philly, ATL, Miami, JFK...).
I'm just wondering if anyone knows the rules whether its allowed or not to transfer flight in the US at the moment? Hopefully that makes sense. I couldn't find an answer on the US Travel Information site.

Many thanks in advanced

you cannot stay airside and in transit in the US so you would be classed as entering the country and need to meet the requirements for travel to the US.
You cannot enter the country if you have been either in or transited the UK (along with many other countries) in the previous 14 days unless you are a US citizen, resident or a few other exceptions
For flights from UK to Mexico City you may want to look at the options via Madrid, Paris or Frankfurt

I want to transit another country to get to the United States, or transit the U.S. to get to another country. Does the proclamation apply?

    • The proclamation suspends travel to the U.S. for any individual who has been physically present in the United Kingdom or another listed country within 14 days prior to their arrival in the United States. Unless you plan to stay in a country that is not impacted by any of these proclamations for 14 days before traveling onward to the United States, the proclamation will continue to apply.
    • Transiting a country covered by the proclamation (including the UK), even without exiting the airport, counts as physical presence within that country and triggers the application of the proclamation.
    • The proclamation also applies to traveling through a U.S. airport to get to another country.

    +1 on answers given above.

For ease you might wish to look at flights via Paris CGD or Madrid MAD to Mexico City. Book as a thru ticket.

Given lots of late rescheduling and cancellations I would suggest you book direct with the airline or at least use a reputable travel agency or your business travel provider. Avoid these ‘cheap’ online ticket sellers. If things go wrong you will be left with mess to sort out.

Other option would be a U.K. to Cancun flight, from there a domestic flight to Mexico City.
