I've worked in insurance, and this is bizarre in the extreme - I also feel there must be more to this.

Newbie OP has not been back since the 26th Nov.

Wow i have been reading all of your comments and to be honest i chose not to respond because the majority have assumed there is more to this and assumed i deliberately did not disclose my 3 points and i got what i deserved when this is not the case at all. The ombudsman have reopened my complaint and there is a new case handler who has taken over and is reviewing from scratch. The Insurance company have provided a breakdown of the cost and there is delays in there that have bumped the cost up which is also now being reviewed. Thanks to those who offered some great advice and didn't jump to the worst in assuming i had deliberately held back information. I won't be reading any further comments... All this was just a bit too negative for me. Thanks again0

We were never going to agree with you on the major points of your argument. Good luck - you will need it.0

You have just proven my point with your comment. I come on and asked for some advice to receive comments like yours. There is enough going on in the world right now without comments like this making people worry even more than they already are.jonesMUFCforever said:We were never going to agree with you on the major points of your argument. When you complain to the ombudsman your complaint is initially handled by an investigator (or adjudicator) and they will make a decision and ask both parties if they agree to it. If either party doesnt then the matter goes back into the sausage machine and is this time reviewed by an ombudsman (but not The Ombudsman) who is basically a higher grade of member. Their decision is binding on the financial firm but the complainer could decide to take the matter to court.jmrkennedy17 said:

On rare occasions it is possible for an interim decision to be made and then a final decision once further evidence is received/reviewed etc but this is more common at the ombudsman level and the final decision follows on automatically in time.
I assume you mean by the above that you’ve rejected the investigator’s decision and so its now been escalated to an ombudsman.1 -

Since you refused to provide the reference number of the Ombudsman's decision we will draw our own conclusions as to why not.jmrkennedy17 said:Wow i have been reading all of your comments and to be honest i chose not to respond because the majority have assumed there is more to this and assumed i deliberately did not disclose my 3 points and i got what i deserved when this is not the case at all. What you have described does not sound feasible or expected. It could be an insurer being difficult but as you have complained and the FOS didn't think that, then it does suggest there is something missing from your posts that would cause the FOS to take that position.
The ombudsman have reopened my complaint and there is a new case handler who has taken over and is reviewing from scratch. Are you sure? That would typically not be possible once the decision is made. You can appeal an adjudicator decision and an ombudsman would then look at the case but the FOS would not normally get a second adjudicator to look at a case already ruled on by another adjudicator. Do you perhaps mean that it is now being looked at by an ombudsman rather than an adjudicator?
I won't be reading any further comments... All this was just a bit too negative for me.Shame as the comments are generally correct. Even if its not what you want to hear.
Do not forget that people here have seen many posts over the years where people claim one thing but when the evidence is presented it turns out they missed out key details. Or other threads where they drip feed information over multiple posts rather than at the start and the comments prompt that further information. So, bits that do not sound right tend to get focused on until more information comes.
