is a cash card a good idea for a carer to use for shopping?

Starling set up a Connected Card for this exact purpose in March. Get that.
Better than the above mentioned accounts.2 -
Thanks, that does look good. Do you know whether you have to name who the Connected Card is given to and do they need to sign up for anything? Are they named on the card or would it be in my friends name?penners324 said:Starling set up a Connected Card for this exact purpose in March. Get that.

As mentioned by born_again, getting the arrangements formalised via POA would definitely make sense - while not querying your motives in any way, actions such as looking after a significant amount of cash for him can very easily appear questionable. He presumably has no family or next of kin, so who would make decisions about his care when he loses what capacity he currently has? Who do his assets pass to on his eventual death?johne1966 said:For a few months I had ~£1500 of his cash at my house1 -

If you check out my post earlier in this thread I posted before @p@penners324 did about the Starling connected card, click the link I posted and it tells you all about the connected card and how it works.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:1 -
Apologies dr_adidas01, I did see your mention of Starling bank, but not specifically to the connected card. Having consulted that link, I am still not sure whether surrogate shopper has to be named or not?dr_adidas01 said:johne1966 said:

No, there's no option to put a name on the card.johne1966 said:

I know you're not asking for advice, but did you know there are similar options that don't charge as much as Caxton do?tacpot12 said:Caxton do a contactless Mastercard where you can load the card with a set amount and see the transactions via their online service. You can't spend more than has been loaded onto the card.
Caxton really aims at international travellers, but you have a card denominated in Pounds Sterling and use it in the UK. You can block the card using the online service, so if it is stolen or misused, you remain in control.
I'm sure their will be other card services that do the same thing, but I only know about Caxton. I use it to send money to my daughter who lives in Denmark. She has a second card on the account with her name on it, and I just add money to the account when I want to send her money. It's worked well for us.
If she has a Danish bank account then you can just send it directly to that using something like TransferWise. If not, numerous UK banks have debit and credit cards with no FX fees she could be using instead.1 -
You name the space that the connected card uses and that is printed on the card.johne1966 said:

I have one on my account for the household shopping, so the card & space are named shopping.0
