My son’s school has an outbreak of Covid amongst their staff ...20+ are out and at least 14 have tested positive. My son is one of a handful who is  still going in...I have asked the headmistress if she is going to deep clean but she says no. This has been going on for three weeks . I am scared.

Maybe the lack of response to your post is because you've posted it on a board intended specifically for travel-related issues, so you might wish to post on https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/coronavirus-support-and-help instead, perhaps rephrased to include a question if you're looking for answers of some sort?

From how you've worded your post, your son is on the teaching staff (as opposed to being a pupil).
How does your son feel about still going in to work?
Are you scared for him or for you or for both of you or for some other member of your family who may be more vulnerable?

  • if your son is a pupil, you could always keep him at home for a while and perhaps arrange a test for him?    If he’s a teacher then it is up to him to ensure he stays as safe as possible.  Surely?   But actually with so many teachers affected I would have thought the sensible thing would be to close the school for a fortnight at least?

That depends on the size of the school and how many teachers there are  together.
If your son is a teacher then it is not your place to question the headmistress on what steps are being taken.
  • If your son is a teacher I’m shocked you have even spoken to his employer. I’d go mad if that was my mother!
  • I work in a hospital but my mum isnt scared for me nor for my niece who also works in a hospital.

My nephew is a teacher and still attending although he has one class who are all self isolating.
Contact between teachers should be socially distanced so there  is not at any more risk than going to the shops etc.
