EON refuses my meter readings. They told me that my meter readings were too low. What can I do?

Forget iPhone/iPad chargers, they're trivial compared to the consumption you're trying to track down. Does your meter have a flashing LED?  If so, a Geo Minim+ monitor in its LED sensor version is great for live consumption monitoring.  [If you're in SE London you could borrow mine as our current house has a good old fashioned spinny wheel meter!]

spend around £100 on a set of mixer shower taps from Screwfix and getting it fitted - gas-heated hot water for your showers just like that ;)

    something like this: https://www.screwfix.com/p/swirl-contract-deck-mounted-metal-head-bath-shower-mixer-tap/61344
we put one in the family bathroom for the kids when we moved in here, nice cheap hot water and you could double your shower time while still saving on the leccy
    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

One thing about Eon is if you are on a fixed tariff with a exit penalty you switch to one of their tariffs without an exit penalty online then leave them with no exit penalty.
    I've done that.

Another thing that's great to monitor consumption is a smart meter, my IHD has just turned red that means my tea will be ready in 5 minutes.

Gas hot water is just as luxurious as electric hot water.
Have you checked that the immersion heaters are both switched off?
Your night electricity usage is exactly the national average.
    Your 18.89p/kWh is ridiculously expensive.
Thanks. No immersion heaters! Combi boiler.

Thanks everyone for your advice and help with this. I was genuinely getting very stressed by this. It's a lot of money, especially when you are just keeping your head above water financially! I'll report back if my 'complaint' to EON does not get resolved as I think it should/needs to be. Best wishes, Stephanie

UPDATE 27.12.2021. A reasonable sounding women from EON complaints is looking into the electricity billing, and a Morrison meter reader visited on the 10th December 2020, contracted by EON, and confirmed that the readings were transposed. I have sent an email with a home made mobile phone film recording of the meter readings, plus photos at over two hours apart to tie in with the Morrison meter reader's recordings of the meter figures. I have also emailed to request that the gas readings are looked into, as the most recent readings given by myself and the Morrison meter reader do not appear on revised statements. Looking back through statements to February 2018, and calculating my gas usage for this year, I believe that EON have been over-estimating my annual gas usage by 25%. Their annual estimate totals are over 8000 KW hours, when my actual usage is more like 6000 KW hours. Hence the reason to enquire why they have left the gas off the revised bills/statements for what is a dual fuel deal that I have with them. I'm not very impressed so far, but we'll see what the New Year brings. My task for now is to double-check annual electricity usage, both estimated and actual and the difference in terms of the amount I have, or should have paid, accepting that transposition of the day and night rate (error made by EON, not me), is an issue still.
  • Apologies if I have missed something but why are you are on a day/night (economy 7?) tariff when you have gas central heating?

Because I had night storage heaters when I moved into this property. I don't thin kI really understood that economy 7 was only of use if you have night storage heaters...Also I was out all day working so figured I wouldn't use much in the day. So partly ignorance...Also I was dealing with a lot of life concerns at the time I took out this deal, so didn't look into it as well as I should have done. These companies send you emails sayong that they'll put you on their 'best' deal, but you need to check exactly what that means, as the deal I went onto Version 35, obviously wasn't the best deal for me.
