Hello Forumites! However well-intentioned, for the safety of other users we ask that you refrain from seeking or offering medical advice. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Rubes - hope you keeping comfortable x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, but dry.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work also. I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken in mixed herbs, gratin potatoes, broc and gravy. Tonight will be pork in sauce with mixed veg rice.
Work wasn't great yesterday - loads of unrest amongst the staff as yet another restructure has been announced - it seems there's going to be major job losses - but information being given to the staff is not entirely clear. I get told today - so will see what happens. Have to go into work tomorrow for a training session, then working again on Saturday.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Great to hear from you Ruby, hope you've had a good night and are pain free.
Worrying times nmlc, hope your job is safe.
It's cold here this morning but not raining for a change, looking forward to seeing Mr Sunshine some time today.
We had a bad day techie wise yesterday, nothing worked in the afternoon including the phones, hoping it's all been fixed today. We did do a lot of clearing out, there's a skip in the playground that's filling up fast - I do like a bit of decluttering especially when it's not my stuff!
I have an order to collect on the way home and something to collect from the delivery office, it used to open at 7am but now opens at 8 which is a bit of a pain as it mostly closes at 2pm which isn't very good for those working, today is 5.30 so should make that.
I enjoyed Bake Off last night but won't say any more in case you haven't seen it!
Happy Wednesday, take care. XX13 -
Morning
I'm so pleased you're home RedRuby xx
I hope you get good news nmlc xx
My desk is covered in baubles, strings of beads, pine cones, candles and fake ivy leaves. I keep rearranging them but still can't decide how I want my decoration to look. I took a step back and stared at it all then in my wisdom decided to start another one. I now have two messy things on the go, lol.
I have no room on my desk to do any work so I'll bring that down to the kitchen table, though I won't be starting that til tomorrow. I have the shopping coming today and the house needs a good dust and vacuum. Unusually, there's no washing. The Christmas Chronicles 2 is on Netflix today so I've reserved a couple of hours this afternoon for that

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
Hope Ruby has had a decent night.
I am waiting for the sun to come up, we have had overnight rain, got lots of washing to do but it will have to be dried indoors. I'm doubtful that I'll get any more garden tidying done today but tomorrow is meant to be a sunny day (hollow laughter).
Nothing much to tell you, it seems that most days are the same or nearly. Only a month until the shortest day, then I can start looking forward to spring.
Have goid days, all.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC, it's worrying news about your job, hope yours will be secure.it was good to hear from you Ruby, keep on with those painkillers.Taff, if you come to this area again make sure to bring warm clothes!! I know what you mean about the wind though, especially the east wind, it seems to come straight from Siberia. i complain and I'm a native! Not a lot going on here, as usual. I hung some different curtains at the landing window but I'm not sure about them, I'll leave them up for now anyway.Hope everyone has a good Wednesday - take care folks.13

Good morning all. Rather dull here atm so I'm hoping it will brighten up later.
DH had his alarm on this morning as he has a dental check up and a separate hygienist appointment this morning; not sure I would want either at the moment so he is braver than me.
I plan to make some ginger biscuits whilst he is out, having found a good recipe that involves chopping stem ginger and adding extra spices; rather festive I thought. Tomorrow we plan a walk around a localish reservoir so will take a packed lunch and some of said biscuits with us.
In the meantime I have a click and collect to go and fetch - some new knickers! Such excitement I hear you sayMust sort out something for dinner whilst I'm out as well and then I need to check on what things I already have for C*mas stockings and what else I still need to buy.
Happy Wednesday everyone10 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs for Ruby and anyone else in need.
Nothing exciting here, same old stuff, I shall carry on with my shawl.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all! As expected, did nothing yesterday and today it is weeing it down...This might deter some fair weather drivers so I expect I will take the car out today instead. It's so dark I had to put the kitchen light on to make myself a cup of tea.I made keema curry last night, first time ever, it was quite nice, and yes, you guessed it,enough for tonight with the addition of a naan or two. But that means we're out of frozen peas so that's anothing thing to add to the shoping list and I think the slow cooker can have a work out tomorrow or today if I make another curry of some sort. I fancy something with lamb....Ruby,hope you're less doped up today but you know, tiny steps, baby steps, stay out of pain first and foremost. nanny, I remember the agony of listening tosomething similar. Don't think we had that any to choose from though so well done you for not giving in to the urge....Well, hope you all stay safe and winkied up in blankets on Wednesday....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11

Good morning everyone
Well I feel tons better today, I am on a different antibiotic for the week and it is already helping so I'm really pleased. I hope Ruby is feeling a bit better after being at home. The NHS is amazing but there is no real resting in hospital.
Tonight we are going to have chicken curry and naans which will be delicious I'm sure. I didn't eat dinner yesterday as I wasn't hungry so this morning I am very ready for breakfast. I fancy porridge for a change so Steve will make me some in a minute.
I still have to sew jewels onto the hat but I finished the Christmas cards I wanted to make so my crafting stuff can go away now for a while. At least we will be able to use the dining room table again without all my stuff everywhere. I have made advent cards for all the nieces, nephews and grandchildren so I will ponder the logistics of getting them to them before the start of December. I hope Steve will be able to deliver some for me.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning ladies
Had quite a good night woke up once from a nightmare (these pills give me horrid dreams) and got up for a wee then took another pill and slept again so not too bad, I am sure they thought I was some kind of druggie in hospital everytime a pain started I asked for pain killers, I had been told time and time again that I sould not be in any pain so I made full use of it and took ,everything I could, once these drains are out Friday I should feel a lot more comfortable.
I managed a quick shower yesterday it was bliss to be cleanwe are going to try and wash my hair today as ite really itchy but dont know how we will achieve that yet.
Nmlc I| hope your job is safe xx
Have good days all and thenk you all xx11 -
Sit on a chair with your back to a sink with a towel wrapped round your neck [ not too tightly obviously] then do as the hairdressers do....
