How much notice does solicitor give me of exchange/completion day

I am a first time buyer buying a chain free flat. The only outstanding thing is for me to sign the lease, the engrossed version which has not yet been issued by the sellers solicitor.
My solicitor says I can complete without having signed and returned the lease.
I originally put forward a completion date of 17th nov, but this never happened because the sellers solicitor wasn’t back from paternity leave and the lease wasn’t issued.
I made it clear I wanted to complete by this Friday at the latest, my solicitor is trying to get done on Friday but I haven’t heard anything from her today. How much notice will I get if it’s going ahead Friday or not? My solicitor will have to request my mortgage funds tomorrow, my case has been marked as urgent so the lender will sort the money within a day

  • I will be exchanging and completing on the same day. I have already paid all monies required

As you are pushing for exchange and completion to occur asap, the solicitor may not be able to give you any notice of completion. Is this a problem for you? Where are you living currently and do you have a date you have to be out of your current property for? If not, I wouldn't worry about how much notice they can give you.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

It’s not a problem at all, I’m quite happy to my hear anything until completion day, but it’d be good to know for sure if It’s going ahead on Friday so I can start packing. I’m moving within My current town, and will not worry unless I hear nothing at all come Friday lunchtime!’

I was told on the Wednesday we would
exhange on the next day to complete on the Friday. This didn’t happen and I was told at 4:30 on Thursday we would exchange and complete on the Friday. I rang on Friday lunchtime and he confirmed it was going ahead. HTH.

We got a phone call from our solicitors the day before we were due to exchange and complete on the same day to ask if we were happy for the transaction to go through. We were due to exchange and complete on the same day but contracts were exchanged last thing the day before completion in the end to help speed things up a bit. We got the completion statement the day before we completed so that we could transfer the required funds to the solicitor for completion date.

The transaction completed the following morning and we were in our new home with the van unpacked by dinnertime.
  • Thank you all. Gonna pray tor a good news phone call from solicitor today.
