Solicitors requesting HSBC confirm they have received certificate of title

So, my solicitors are insisting they need written confirmation off HSBC that they have received the certificate of title. I have rang HSBC and they say they don’t do this so don’t understand why my solicitors have been waiting for this?!
We are basically needing to exchange tomorrow, as the sellers are getting annoyed with our solicitors holding everything up (our original move date was 2nd Oct - so you can imagine how frustrated they are)
we have told them to continue working toward the 2nd December completion but without exchanging tomorrow we have been told we can’t complete following week!

Solicitors have not been able to get through on the phone to HSBC but I sat on hold for 1.5 hours and was verbally assured everything is in place and is ready for completion.
Can I just tell my solicitors to exchange? Or do they need to get this confirmation themselves?
Thanks

I too don't understad why they need it, but if they need confirmation from their (lender) client, they won't accept confirmation from their (borrower) client.

If this (rather pointless) step serves any purpose, it's to protect the OP - so it's up to them, if they're comfortable that the lender has got the certificate of title.

I have had confirmation off HSBC that they have received COT and the mortgage funds are ready to be released next week for completion!
In writing?
If so, copy to your solicitor?
