Lost credit

A flight bought through a third party was cancelled and they have finally issued a refund to my American Express credit card. They say that they transferred the money on 6/11, American Express confirm that it hasn’t arrived but say there is nothing they can do. Any advice as to how to advance this.

Presumably the third party is in the UK?

I’d argue its more likely an error with the vendor so get them to reconfirm all the details of the payment they made. Then go back to AmEx with those details if they all appear to be correct.

Could you (or that third party) make a claim against the credit card company using Section 75?  The page on this very site was updated yesterday, might be worth a look -  https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/section75-protect-your-purchases/

Or instead of immediately going for the nuclear option, just go back to the vendor and politely ask them to check the refund has been processed correctly, as Sandtree suggested?
  • First post 'A flight bought threw 3rd party' suggests to me that S.75 may not apply here.
Depending on the dates he could possibly ask for a chargeback.
  • thanks for all your helpful comments. I have emailed the third party. They are Budget Air and are based in the Netherlands and at the moment have closed their phone line so emailing seems to be the only option which is a bit frustrating.

Saying 3rd party. Implies that you used you Amex card to make a purchase of flights through (say Expidia) but the actual flights were with "Budget Air"
So do Budget Air have your card details?, or are they saying they have refunded the co you used to buy the tickets Via?

If you did use another co to purchase the flights via, then S75 is going to be out of the window.

As clarified in a subsequent post, Budget Air are the agent here, not the airline, so in s75 terms they're a fourth party, over and above debtor (OP), creditor (Amex) and supplier (airline), and therefore s75 doesn't apply.
