We've been quoted £7000 to lay a 120sqm block paved driveway. This includes:

1. digging existing garden up
2. digging existing block paved drive up
3. grabbing and removing 2 lorry loads of waste
4. supplying 18 tonne of stone (sub-base)
5. levelling & compacting stone
6. supplying materials i.e 5612 'premium quality' paving blocks in 3 different colours (brindle, charcoal, buff), sand, weed membrane, aco drains
7. laying weed membrane, cutting blocks and laying drains
8. Compacting and brushing sand over the area

We are in dispute with the landscaper who took a £5000 deposit and after completing steps 1 - 4, has abandoned the job and claims we owe him money!
Can anyone provide an approx. cost breakdown for each of the above stages, or confirm what steps 1-4 should actually cost?

Thanks

  • For number 3, ring around your local waste carriers for a price;
    same for number 4 both will give you an idea of costs to some extent.
    for the initial dig, was a small digger used? If so, again ring around for a day rate to hire one
    Be happy, it's the greatest wealth :)
