Car Repossession

Hi looking for some advice. I took a payment holiday with my car finance from Santander at the start of lockdown, I have since been made redundant so I requested to extend it to which they said they couldn't and payments would resume I could make payments for a few months but I missed a payment by 3 days and they have sent me a repossession notice for the car. They don't want to continue the contract and won't offer me any kind of help they just want the car but then I will be due them the negative equity. Is it better to sell the car to a third party and get a substantial amount more money and see if they will let me pay the rest of the money off or should I just hand the car back, let them auction it and try and find the 10k?? any help is greatly appreciated TIA.

Presumably if they're repossessing the car then you don't actually own the car just now and you can't sell something that you don't own.
I think it might be better suited to another board but not sure which one. Perhaps motoring or one of the credit boards?
Do you have any income protection insurance or payment protection insurance? Perhaps when you took the finance out or perhaps through another policy you hold? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride2
