Covid Tests non-refundable

Did anyone have to book covid tests as a condition of travelling pre 5/11? Both my bank, travel insurance and company supplying the tests have refused to refund the cost (£750) as the T&Cs stated they were non-refundable - how can that be right? The government put us in lockdown and through no fault of my own I can’t attend the test and no refund... any ideas anyone? Thanks

Wasn’t really the bank’s fault either so I can understand why they might not wish to pay you the fee.
In England at least thought you could still attend appointments for medical reasons. Who told you that you couldn’t go for the booked test? Or, is this that you could not travel overseas and that use of the Covid tests became redundant?0 -

"hospital, GP and other medical appointments or visits where you have had an accident or are concerned about your health."
Obviously, the OP can't claim the former and I doubt they could claim the latter. They were taking a COVID test to travel, not because they were concerned about their health.

The government announced on the Saturday evening (30 October) that the new rules would come into force on the 5th. So you would have had the opportunity to cancel from then. I guess there is a chance the clinic you were using is only open mid week, though that is unusual given people need covid tests within a set number of hours before travelling, so should be open at the weekend.I had a test booked for Thursday 5th and cancelled it without charge, another clinic I had researched would have charged £30 admin fee for cancelled appointments.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Sadly I think we have become used to the blame culture and "it" always being someone else fault, someone else to blame, someone else to pay.1 -

Sadly I think we have become used to the blame culture and "it" always being someone else fault, someone else to blame, someone else to pay.People just don’t want to accept responsibility sometimes, this board has proved that many times with the I’ve booked non refundable rooms/tickets/events and I didn’t go but want my money back. Or if they’ve been given a voucher in those circumstances which they were never entitled too it’s not good enough! Very frustrating0
