I have recently purchased one of those unbreakable wooden men toy advertised on Facebook - silly I know!!.  The advert said that it is suitable for any age.  On receipt of the item I have found that it is not suitable for a young child and have requested to return this item for a refund.  The company have eventually replied to my emails and have said that they do not accept returns and that I have to return it at my own cost to their supplier which is in China after which they will issue a refund.  Are they able to do this?

Depends where in the world "the company" is. If it's in China then you bought under Chinese consumer laws.

Thanks for the reply Davidmen, I’ve just googled the company ComfyBear and it appears it is a uk based website with terrible reviews!  Wish I’d done a bit more research first!

That says all you need to know ... it's not a UK company. (For a start their website is non-compliant with UK regulations as it has no address nor any company number).

The WHOIS result also gives a huge clue that it's not a UK company. There is also no result on Companies House for Comfbear or Comfy Bear.
