Building and Contents Insurance

In October 2020 Southern Water had a main water pipe that burst and flooded quite a few homes in my area. Southern Water has admitted liability. On 23rd November 2020 I received a renewal quote for my building and contents insurance which has risen by £611 which brings my total renewal to £854. I have spoken to the insurance company and they have stated that it doesn't matter who's fault it was your premium will be increased. I am a pensioner and can't afford this massive hike as it was nothing to do with me and yet I have been penalised for Southern Waters mistake. I did speak to the insurance company on the day I made a claim and they said it wouldn't affect my premium as it was an non fault claim. Has anyone else experienced this and is there something I can do about it.? Billy

Have you got quotes from other insurers, and what are the other quotes like compared to the renewal?

I have used the comparison website and the cheapest quote is £370 which is £140 more than last years renewal. It is a lot cheaper than quoted by my current insurance company.
