BEWARE TELETEXT HOLIDAYS - SCAM

Beware booking any kind of holiday with Teletext Holidays.
I recently booked a holiday to Lanzarote with Teletext over the phone. It was a last minute holiday booked so that we could get away at the end of Summer before travel restrictions were tightened. Everything seemed fine, we got a quote which we were happy with but whilst the transaction was going through, at the last minute the phone rep told us the standard room was no longer available and that if we wanted to stay we would have to upgrade our room for an additional £70, which as it was last minute we reluctantly paid. When we arrived at the hotel we found that we had been booked in a standard room (not upgraded) so you can imaging our disappointment. When we got back to the UK I raised a complaint via the Teletext website, which stated I should get a reply within 28 days. However 28 days later and not a peep from Teletext. I've tried calling on several occasions, waiting over 20 minutes to get through each time, only to be hung up on when the rep hears about the complaint. I thought it was just me but it seems this is their sales tactic, scamming customers out of money at the last minute and selling rooms that don't exist. This has been going on for years, yet they are still trading. See thread below from 2014!!!!!

If you have faced a similar issue please add to this thread.

DO NOT BOOK WITH TELETEXT.  My wish is to spread this message so that other customers do not get fleeced.

There have been similar stories, with a complete lack of response from the company, on this site alone for years. It is a pity you didn't do a little bit of research before booking, I assume the salespeople are on commission to upsell to non-existant upgrades as that is one of the usual complaints

See, that's the problem with posts like these.
You see them all the time on the Air Travel board of Tripadvisor about shonky 3rd party flight sellers.
People who've been stung post to warn other people but in reality that doesn't work.
Otherwise the OP of this thread would have read the warnings about Teletext and opted (wisely) not to do business with them.

On a Google search , the first 5 hits are all complaints about this company on MSE.
So the warnings are out there.
People just don't read them. Until it's too late.

Teletext will stay in business as long as people keep booking holidays with them.
