Swapping integrated washer for dishwasher

Hi everyone. Some advice needed please. I have an integrated washing machine with a kitchen cabinet door fitted to it. If I wanted to swap the washer for a dishwasher would I be able to somehow reuse the kitchen cabinet door so it still matches the kitchen or would I be better forgetting that idea and just replacing it with a normal free standing dishwasher? Thank you so much in advance. Zoe xx

The door can be reused, but the way it fixes to a dishwasher will be different to how it fits at the moment.  It will fit directly to the DW front and open with it.  This means that the handle may not be in a good place for opening a drop down door, so you would need to take that into account.

As an ordinary DW will be less expensive, you may just want to get that if the handle situation would not work for you.

    I'd second jennifernil's advice.

Check that any new integrated dishwasher will come with the hardware to attach a door; sometimes (rarely) this has to be ordered as a sperate part. The manuals are usually available on lien to help you check the dimensions of the door that will fit onto an integrated appliance. Some integrated appliance will come with a piece of trim that can be adjusted to hide any gap between the door and the appliance for a neat appearance.

If you decide to go with an ordinary dishwasher, keep the door in case it will fit better on a subsequent dishwasher or washing machine.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

If its a fully integrated one then its simply a case of putting it on the front but as has already been pointed out, the handle may not be in the best place for opening it (unless its a knock to open type or you’re handle free).

There are also part integrated models where the control panel isnt covered by the door in which case the door would be too tall for the dishwasher without cutting it down.

A stand alone will be cheaper, larger
