Allinsons flour is Canadian wheat which I believe is regarded as the best; so your bread will be better as a result.0

I noticed this morning that Asda has got its own brand bread flour, plain and wholemeal showing back on its online shopping. Both at 60p. I will try ordering on my next order and see if it turns up.1

Asda flour is fine for general cooking but heavy for making bread, not ideal; I tried it in the past.0

Because Aldi and Lidl stock is so variable I stock up (buy 5 bags) when it is available - the sell by date is usually fairly far off. Their prices are cheap. Aldi wholemeal bread flour tends to be less available than the white.

Never had problems with it before.
My last 2 bags from Lidl have been a bit off though.

I found the Asda bread flour to make bread that felt a bit "pasty" and stick to the roof of the mouth, which I don't get with quality flour.0

Asda is selling Casilio plain or self-raising flour at 20p for 1 kg bag. Tesco also has it on clubcard price offer of 49p. Note you can freeze flour in plastic bag and it doesn't go hard, so can be used in small quantities as needed.0
