This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Good morning and thanks for starting Gers.It seems to be a nice morning, I'm late this morning, had a bad night. We met up with DS and family yesterday, to give Dil her birthday present and card, it was great to see them. We met at North Shields Fish Quay, everywhere was packed because it was a fine day. We stood in a long queue for fish and chips, but they were lovely when we eventually got them.I hope Red Ruby is feeling a bit better today, and also others who haven't been well. Not a lot happening here today, hope everyone has a good day.Take care folks15

Morning
Thank you Nels xx
Lots and lots of healing wishes being sent to you RedRuby I hope you're being given plenty of painkillers and feel a bit better this morning xx
I was even lazier than planned yesterday – I spent the afternoon on the sofa, watched four episodes of Timeless on Netflix while eating chocolate and drinking lots of tea.
Not sure about today yet, it's cold but dry here so I might spend a bit of time in the garden.

Morning everyone.SCARLET - your visit to North Shields Fish Quay popped so many happy memories right into my head! 😃
Yesterday was fine, DM wasn't too well so cut short her crossword time in the living room, retired to bed where she perked up enough to continue the challenge with her friend for a while. I managed to watch almost all of SCD first time round this week though I found it strangely disappointing, not sure why so I'll try again later.Today has no plans attached to it. Tomorrow I have to go into town again and also collect an order so will hold fire today apart from a little stroll if the weather stays OK.
I hope that RR and Topsy are recovering well. Marie too, how's your new hip doing (or have I imagined that you got a new one recently?).Happy Sunday to all.13 -
Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread Gers.
I was technologically impaired yesterday, kept losing the internet but have read back over yesterday's thread. I hope Ruby got some sleep and that the staff are helping her with pain management.
Hester I missed your birthday so belated birthday wishes.
I have a lot to do today, laundry, samosas to make, kebabs to make, other similarly boring stuff so I'm just having a cup of tea and watching the wildlife. I will get some toast and then start doing things.
Hope everyone has a good day and that you all get a bit of sunshine too.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back16 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS for our start for today. It's fine here too and a pleasant day is forecast. After singing the praises of the weighted blanket I am back where I was again with silly o'clock wakening. I was even up before Sparkle this morning and caught her still napping. It's usually the other way about.
I left a beef casserole in the slow cooker overnight and oh it did smell good as I was coming down the stairs. So that is my lunch today, tomorrow and maybe the day after! I don't think I will ever get used to cooking for one and always make far too much.
So another boring Sunday (the same as every day sadly thanks to Covid) with no great plans in store other than maybe a catch up nap after lunch. Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Thinking of RUBY and hoping the pain is under control and she is managing to sleep. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Morning
Supposed to be a nice day today which will make a change
Minor disaster last night when the toaster fused all the lights and sockets in the house. Fuse box is in the garage but it was so dark I literally had to stumble my way in to sort it out. Quite scary just how unfamiliar your own house becomes when you can't see your finger in front of your face. Anyway it reminded me I had lent my torch to a friend last year and never got it back so as soon as I was back to normal I got one from Amazon. Dont realise how much you miss something till it goes missing.
Probably need to think new toasters now but I can live without one for now
Got some house stuff to do today then maybe a crown binge later. Loved Strictly last night Jamie was amazing
Food will be turkey slices, veg and yorkies if I can operate the appliances without blowing them up!
Have a great day all

Morning all
The sun is shining here again this morning so I must make the most of it and get out for my daily walk.
Got a little carried away yesterday and ended up at a Garden Centre, which wasn't too busy, and bought a couple of nice chocolate items to put away for C*mas, as well as an interesting looking chicken dish for the freezer. It was called a Chicken Alexander, which I've never heard of. We had intended to look for patio slabs but that was a no no.
Thought England were a bit scrappy in the rugby yesterday and switched off the Wales game as it was tedious. Hoping for better today from Scotland v France up at Murrayfield.
The ironing still didn't get done - Monna would be proud of me - so might consider doing it today as DH is cooking the Sunday roast so I am spared kitchen duties. I do have a pineapple to cut up though - a bargain at 65p in M&*.
Happy Sunday everyone.14 -
Morning All
Bright this morning but there are a few showers passing, at least the wind has dropped, it was quite rough last night.
I'm hoping to have an hour in the garden later so hope the sun shines!
I took a parcel to the post office yesterday for DS1, it weighed more than 2kg so was going to cost over £45! I was advised to split the parcel so had to walk home again to make 2 parcels then walk back again. Anyway, sending 2 parcels cost £22 in total so I'm very grateful to the lady in the PO. I got caught in the rain on the way back from the second journey but I'm sure the walk did me good!
I did quite a few little jobs about the house yesterday, glad to have got those out of the way. I gutted my bedroom, didn't realise quite how dusty it was. It's the upstairs bathroom's turn today.
Hoping you've had good nights Ruby and topsy.
Happy Sunday, take care. XX14 -
Morning all, it looks dry and bright outside, don't know if it will last although no rain is forecast.I've been up since daft o'clock again and I had a bacon sandwich made by my chef who is back in the land of the living today, thank goodness as he was hard work yesterday.I've got a few online things to do today, the gas and electric bills are here so I need to check those and I also find something for DD's birthday, as it's coming up pretty soon. I've had all this time on my hands and I'm very behind this year. I also want to look for her Xmas present too, she's the only one with nothing to open on the day as yetThe hall and stairs need dusting and hoovering today and I'll put the dw on later when I've filled it with the lunch dishes, then I'm back to the card making. I finished a xmas card yesterday and there is one in the making for later. I'm determined to finish them and put the crafting stuff away, hopefully this week, then I can tidy and clean the spare bedroom.Tea today will be chinese style pork but I haven't decided what to have it with yet, chips, wedgies, jackets ? Decisions, decisions ! I'll have several coffees and perhaps I'll be able to make a decision.RedRuby hope you feel a little better this morning.Topsy hope you're over your op too.Dumpling how are you this morning.Bella hope there were no more shenanigans last night, those hooligans want a short sharp shock.Take care all, stay safe and sane on the bench. Sunday special on the tea trolley today.......... full afternoon teas, sandwiches, cakes and cream teasnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14

Morning all
Late from me couldn't sleep as i was worried the little shi** might come back for another go at a window then DS went to work at 4am so woke me up with the march of the baby elephants and for some reason someone thought it was ok to come in the front garden with a head torch on to go through the skip we have think they were disappointed as it was building rubble and a few bits of old tat from the loft and a bed frame still it made for an interesting night/morning.
Ruby I hope you are more comfortable this morning
Topsy I hope you are resting and feeling ok
Nels sounds like fun and games last night
Gers I hope mum feels a bit better today
Nanny chocolate cake and coffee cake is my contribution to the bench tea party today
Have a good day one and all xSlava Ukraini14
