Options
Has anyone applied for Welfare guardianship for an adult who lacks capacity in Scotland?
looking for info on how much it cost
and what the advantages/disadvantages have been
before going ahead instead of letting social work take over.
thanks

I fear I can only state the obvious, but at least if I say something then more knowledgeable people may also contribute. And I know nothing specific about the situation in Scotland, or costs.

Starting point must be the kind of relationship you have with the person. Is it someone you know well enough to make reasonable decisions about what's best for them? If not, I'd leave it to the social workers.

Do you have time and energy to devote to making those decisions, and implementing them? If not, I'd seriously consider not taking it on.

Are you good at keeping records of decisions made, costs incurred? If not ...

Is there anyone who could share these responsibilities with you? Would you tend to agree with them, or would it become a power struggle?
