Putting doorbell on upvc frame

Hi - I’ve just bought a Ring doorbell & they are much bigger & chunkier than most doorbells.
I have a small window to the side of my front door & the upvc frames of the window & the front door are joined. Both the frames together are ample to site the Ring doorbell over.
However there is like a beading (also upvc) between the join. It’s raised about a third of a centimetre & it’s about a centimetre wide.
I thought of getting two small bits of upvc and using them to pad the area out either side of the beading to put the doorbell over.
would I go to a upvc window place and buy that from them?
Sort of two pieces about the size of the side portion on a packet of cigarettes.
Unless anyone has any better ideas?

Doesn't need to be uPVC. Any piece of plastic, metal, or even good quality ply would do the job. You can take a look round somewhere like B&Q for packs of shims (expensive). Someone that has stuff delivered on pallets is another source - When Strapex is used, there is often a strip of plastic used to protect the corners of what ever is piled on to a pallet.A local model shop may have a selection of materials for modellers that do scratch builds. And of course, window installers will always have scraps that they are more than happy to get rid of.Heck. If you know what thickness is needed, I could even bung a couple of shims in the post....Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
