Number plate from one car to another

I'm buying a new car (online via Cazoo) but wish to keep my existing number plate. Is this allowed? FYI - I do not believe mine is a private plate, however it is quite unique (friends have asked if its a private plate)Has anyone here transferred a (non private) number plate from one car to another?

Indeed. But a lot of people do think there's something inherently different about a "private plate", and your "...whilst not being a private plate..." certainly led me to believe you may be one of them. The only difference is one of cosmetics and memorability.
