Get some cheap timeswitches instead (and LED bulbs if you haven't already).

    Adam,

If you don't mind can I ask what your final decision was? I too have received the Solar Together letter linked to my local council in Surrey and I'm undecided as to whether I should even request a quote or not. Any updates would be appreciated.
    Cheers

Did/would you get any better information than the OP on what would actually be supplied?

The big problem with the quote quoted by the OP is that it did not state explicitly what the (full sun) power output of the panels was, making it hard to judge whether the price was good or bad.

I don't think the OP has visited the forum since November. You might get a reply if you send him a DM and he has notifications turned on.

That's why I'm interested in the end result and his opinion of the process etc after his last post. Clearly what is here doesn't cover the entire process.

My best guess based on the info provided is that it was a roughly 4 kWp system and the installer estimated that the OP would use 35% of the generated power. £4000 for a system of that size sounds reasonable, as does 4050kWh/yr generated.
£2200 for a 3.1kWh battery isn't too bad, either; a little higher than I'd hope for but not outrageously so. It was probably more reasonable 8 months ago when the quote was given. (It's too small to have much chance of paying for iteslf, but that's another matter.)

  • Apologies for dredging up an old thread - as I explain in my edit to the original post above, this thread appears as one of the top search results when you search for "Solar Together Kent" so wanted to warn other people of my experiences with the scheme over the last 12+ months.

In summary, I wouldn't recommend it
