Economy 7 readings

I have moved into a house having storage heaters and therefore on Economy 7.
The meter therefore has two electricity readings.
I have now installed gas combi heating and therefore do not need an E7 tariff.
I do not wish to have a Smart Meter installed.
Am I correct in assuming that a normal daytime tariff would be different to a normal daytime tariff with E7?
Does anyone know which suppliers provide a single tariff for both readings?
I see that the MSE help site effectively says contact the suppliers direct. I am hoping that someone else may have been in my situation

Thanks

It's not necessarily a problem even if they don't: some E7 tariffs are still slightly cheaper even with night usage as low as 15 - 20%.  Bulb certainly don't, but they're most unlikely to be the cheapest.  Neon Reef certainly do (they don't even have an E7 tariff, which confuses some price comparison websites).  Many of the others do.  From memory, this includes cheaper suppliers such as Avro, Yorkshire and several others, but you'll have to check because policies can change (Bulb decided to become unfriendly relatively recently) and some I've used may just have been cheaper on E7.
It's not a problem.  Just find your preferred supplier and ask them, rinse & repeat as necessary.
You'll be guessing your usage anyway, so 20% night might be a good place to start, then tell the website that you don't have an E7 meter.   Start with Citizens Advice and 'Switch with Which?'.
Beware of using the energy companies' own websites.  Despite entering your day and night kWh figures (or your night % usage, which some stupid sites ask for), some dodgy companies will deliberately assume a much higher percentage usage at night so that they can give you a fake quotation that will beat their honest competitors.  Culprits have even included big boys such as British Gas / Sainsbury's and ones which went bust such as Iresa and OneSelect.  PFP (Places for People) is still guilty, just do the sums and you'll see.
Ofgem has known about this scam for over three years but still condones it.
  • I used to be on an economy 7 tariff.  My meter is an old analogue one and has two readings. Since I have switched to a normal single rate tariff, I have had no trouble with the suppliers I have used, billing for each meter reading at the standard rate with only one standing charge.  With the standard single rate tariff, the units are cheaper than the old daytime units.  As my heating is not electric, I do not use enough cheaper night units to balance out for the more expensive day units.  Hope this helps.  Please ask if you need more details.

E7 has only one standing charge.

I am in a flat with an economy 7/dual rate meter which has been used for both single rate and eco7 tariffs.
I initiated a switch to PFP energy from Ocotopus who say that their systems are unable to put me on a single rate tariff even though I have done so previously with other providers. The only way to get a single rate tariff with them would be to get a smart meter requested and wait until that has been installed before they would move me to the single rate tariff. Wish I'd have known that prior to joining....

That's why I have only ever been charged one standing charge.  It's not beyond the realms of possibility though, that an incompetent company may try and charge you twice, if you give them two meter readings.

Hi I hope you don't mind me asking, now that you are on single rate tariff on electric, how much do they charge you per unit and how much is your standing charge for it?
