How will they 'screw' the freeholder if they lose their homes, assuming the flats are worth more than 80K?
They won't get paid by the leaseholder, but they will get their flat back to sell to someone else! If the flat is worth more than 80k then they can pay for that share of the works and the rest is pure profit! Hardly being screwed over.

Will it not be unsustainable for the Gov to foot the tab when the developers are the ones who built these homes. I acknowledge that the testing procedures at the time were inadequate, which has nothing to do with the gov per say. Bare in mind a buried report showing unsafe cladding was when Labour were in power.
Effectively do you think it's right for the tax payers to foot the bill at this time?"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Labour are the Anti Government and what Gov says, they will oppose for the sake of being opposition, but with all the rhetoric, would they want their working class voters to foot the bill when it comes to it? Nothing is mentioned, perhaps they think a magic money tree will appear.
Either way the Gov is in a hard place and a rock and indeed the taxpayers"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

No way they can put over a tax payer bailout in the wake of Covid IMO, people should have just stayed away from this overpriced rubbish in the first place.0
