If the radiators are indeed imperial sizes, chances are, the valves & fittings either end will also be imperial - Not a huge issue as many suppliers will supply new valves "free" with a radiator - The fun comes trying to get the compression fitting off the old pipe, as the nut (probably) won't screw on to the new valve.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

Depending on the age of the radiators they may be imperial lengths rather than metric so modern replacements won't necessarily be a direct swap.  There are adaptors/spacers available to make up for the difference in length.

I had imperial radiators replaced.  I got new TRVs.  The gas engineer had to do a bit of pipework as the new radiators were not exact in width.  Not an easy DIY job, so i would pay for a professional.

I was going to say the same and would go as far as saying that personally, I wouldn't let a decorator remove them.
As you stated that they are "a bit dated" there is a good chance that some of the valves may not operate correctly or close off fully and the last thing you need is a radiator half off with a valve that won't shut.
If there are a few that need removing, you might well end up having to drain down the system before they are taken off.
