This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Topsy Glad you are home and relaxing after your op
Ruby I am still thinking of you and hope that you are doing ok this morning xx
I am up early as the gas man is coming to cap a pipe and cut another one as we have now taken the fireplace out we are having a new wood floor laid and didn't want the old gas fire pipe sticking up . Unfortunately during the night we had to call the police as we had a window smashed at the back of the house the bathroom looks like a catapult but we couldn't see who did it as it was pitch black on the field outside and we have a huge field with quite a few exits so easy for them too get away we weren't the only ones looks like 2 or 3 other houses had it as well luckily it didn't smash both panes of the double glazing just the outer so i will need to call the glazier today as well I see little point going through the insurance company but its an expense i could do without . DH said there was 2 young boys in hoodies and masks out the back looking like they were up to no good when he walked the dog with friends at 10ish this was just before midnight I couldn't get back to sleep till around 4 this morning so will feel like a wet rag later . I need to go shopping this afternoon as the fridge looks a bit bare but other than that its just a general tidy up everywhere is very gritty . Right onwards n upwards have a good day everyone xxSlava Ukraini14 -
Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread Bellabella. That must have been really upsetting, hope you can get it fixed quickly.
Topsy, good to know you are home. I will.pop.back.later, hoping for news of Ruby.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back15 -
Good morning and thanks for starting Bella. That was a good idea of yours about putting shower caps on buggy wheels by the way. So simple yet so effective.Thinking of Ruby, and hoping she's had a good night.Yesterday was spent cleaning and tidying the kitchen - though it's a large kitchen it's not well planned, whoever lives here after us will probably gut it and move doors. This is an old house and originally there would have been a coal burning range in the kitchen like my Grandma used to have. It's Dil's birthday tomorrow so dS is trying to arrange a "surprise" meeting somewhere so we can give her her card and present. We are waiting for instructions, trouble is it's pretty cold, and she might not fancy a seaside walk or something like that. We'll see what happens anyway.Hope Topsy and Dumpling are feeling better, and everyone else is ok.Take care folks14

Morning
No news yet folks I'm guessing she was out for the count last night. Anyway same goes I'll let you know soon as I hear anything
Waiting on an Asda delivery nothing missing. Got some mince pies and special cheeses for my stock but doubt theyll last that long. Tonight I fancy simple again so a brekky is in order. Im trying black pudding for the first time which I obviously decided I hated as a kid so in truth I have no idea if I like it or not ...I bought a small one just in case
Right have a good day and fear not I'll let you know any news I get x13 -
Morning folks.Hope you're still taking things easy Topsy.Today is the usual Saturday cake shopping. I'll also pop into my favourite cafe to pick up a takeaway coffee and cake. I feel it's important to support these local businesses during our lockdown two. A whole load have done such great work.My new audiobook arrived yesterday. I chose the most recent Rankin / Rebus book so need to start listening to that. Such a busy life!Still hoping for news about RR.
Meanwhile, happy Saturday to everyone.13 -
Good morning everyone
.
I am hoping Ruby had a comfortable night and there will be news from her today. I had another bad night but I can catch up on some sleep later I hope. I need to ring the ward I was on to see if I can speak to someone about my antibiotics. I still have 4 boxes worth and my course was supposed to finish yesterday. I don't know if I am supposed to carry on with them but I have been on some form of antibiotic for 3 weeks now and I am worried about resistance. I can't get an appointment with my GP until next Tuesday so my sister recommended asking the hospital.
We had a bit of a family discussion last night as Steve is finding it tiring having to do the cooking every day. The upshot is now the kids will cook at least one meal a week each starting with tonight and so Phoebe is on burger duty. It is a bit disappointing that things like this need pointing out to the kids as they really do treat this place as a hotel. I know Phoebe is raring to go and move out after Christmas but we need to pull together at least while I am not quite back to normal. I am hoping that the chat will have done the trick and they will be a little less selfish.
I haven't managed any card making yet as my concentration is in pieces. I really miss picking up my knitting too but I don't want to make a load of mistakes. I am definitely having to learn patience that's for sure. Anyway, Steve has made me a lovely breakfast so off I trot. Hope you all have a good day whatever you are up to and Topsy, I am glad you came through your surgery ok too xx

Morning All
I've been up for hours so made some napkins from material I had, decided it was wasteful to use paper napkins all the time. There are some Christmas ones too, Kevin the carrot and friends so the children will be happy!
I'm hoping Topsy and Ruby had good nights, wishing you both a very speedy recovery.
Lockdown number 2 is now in force, I'll walk to the post office and Aldi when they open and then the day is my own. I've stripped the bed and replaced the elastic on the mattress protector, it keeps popping off in the night. I may gut the bedroom later, those dust bunnies are back!
Enjoy your coffee and cake Gers.
What a shock you must have had bella, hope you manage some sleep later.
Have a happy Saturday, take care. XX

Morning all.Glad family helping with the cooking Dumpling.Hope you feel ok Topsy. Thanks Nelski I think we all keep peering back in the daily looking for news of RR. Hoping she has had some rest overnight.Off out on dog walk
Take care all x14 -
Morning all; a dry, slightly sunny morning here at the moment.
Yesterday's tomato soup was enjoyed by DH but not so much by me; I found it a bit bland so probably won't make that one again. Tonight we are having h/m Thai chicken curry, which is always a favourite.
Plans for today include a walk to get in my daily 6000 steps, then probably hunkering down with my knitting to watch the rugby.
Exciting eh?!
Hope to hear news of all the invalids later.14
