Barclays Employer References

Barclays asked for my employer reference too, as I am on my maternity leave. They took quite a while (approximately 2 weeks after we submitted our application) to send the reference form by post. They don't accept reference form to be sent through email or fax, just by post only. After that, they took at least 1 month to proceed to valuation stage. Just before they start the valuation, they only cancelled our application because they don't accept our building construction, which made us wait for nothing for 2 months. Their service is really horrible.

I have had my app in with Barclays since 2/10. Every week they have requested something different. Valuation was done on 5/11 and I’m still waiting to hear. Latest document requested was my birth certificate to confirm my middle name as it wasn’t on my passport or driving license.

@shondoc oh dear that's not encouraging... we'll see what this week brings and in the meantime we've arranged for hard copies of refs to be couriered tomorrow. I'm just surprised mortgage broker has not been more honest about likely timelines.
