Paypal Email

Not sure this is the right forum, so apologies is not.
Has anyone else received an email from Paypal initing you to claim a £10 reward by clicking a link and signing in. Apparently there are 94000 such rewards.

Indeed - and I haven't received one.  And I use an email address specifically for PayPal so would know it wasn't genuine.

Is the email addressed to you as in your first name ?
Does the email also have your full name near the top of the message but below www.paypal.com ? Im seing the email on a phone so on a pc it could look different.

They do have something like this on their web page right now.
    https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/rewarded
You could forward the email to them if you can't tell if it's a scam or not.

  • I now find I have the email - which is to encourage use of the account.  It went to an address known only to PayPal and one payee so I believe it is genuine.

Just check the email headers to ensure the email has been DKIM signed by Paypal. If it's not been DKIM signed by Paypal then it's not from Paypal. It's easy enough to set up filtering rules in most email clients to filter on such things if you can't be bothered to manually check.

  • Well I have got my £10 from them. Just transferred it to my bank account now. (I did log in and change my Paypal password after I got the e-mail just in case).
