Virgin Holiday Refund Email

Options
HI

I have searched for any previous postings on this subject but haven't found any so....

We have just received an email from VH asking to click on a link, which then asks for bank details so as to refund another portion of the holiday amount.  Is this a scam email?  The actual URL (not the text) is:
 https://customerpayments.virginholidays.co.uk

I've done a WhoIs look up on the domain and it return details for virginholidays.co.uk which appears to be the valid VH domain (registered in 1997).  I am unsure if this is a scam or not, and whether the 'customerpayments' is simply a sub-domain of the domain?

Obviously, trying to contact VH is somewhat 'slow' so, any confirmation would be helpful.

  • How did you pay originally? If it was by a card they should refund back to the card.

Is there a link on their own website?  I would ring them to check that the email is genuine.

It is genuine. They don't just refund back to the original card you paid with (I guess in case the account is no longer open). I had to do this.

Hi all, thanks for the comments.

Part of the problem is that it was a multi-family holiday so each paid via their own way(s).  The principle 'booker' paid some (50%) via debit card and some by CC.  We paid it all on CC (different CCs for the deposit and then the full payment).

As far as I am aware all monies paid by debit card have been re-credited (charge back).  The principle booker' s CC received a refund.  None of the the other payments (CC) have been received.  The slightly confusing point, and this relates to the comment above is that the refund email amount (£1275) bears no resemblance to any of the outstanding amounts, i.e. the CC deposit was approx £550, and the other CC payment (full amount) was a number of thousand pounds.  And, as mentioned, I would have thought this would simply be refunded on to the CC that made the payment.

I think we (principle booker) is simply going to have to sit on the phone for a number of hours to obtain confirmation.

Just to confirm, it is a legitimate URL domain.  Apparently the refund on to the CCs are in process.

It is fine. I had similar concerns. All checked out and money refunded soon after.
