Late payment/payment short after 2 weeks

Has anyone got any experience with TSB and asking them to remove a late payment from credit file?
My husband has had his credit card with them since 2003 and bank acc since 1999, never any issues and he has NEVER had a late payment. His balance has been zero for a few
years however he used his CC in September and as he had a DD set up for min payment he also set up a SO for an additional payment to reduce the balance quicker.
Last month his min payment was due for £76. The SO came off for £50 but the DD never came off. He didn’t actually realise until a letter came through after 2 weeks saying he hadn’t made the min payment and £26 was overdue. He called and paid this immediately and he was told the DD had been cancelled 3 years ago - which it may have been as he hadn’t used the card for a while. The statement date was the 18th - he made up the the underpayment of £26 on the 28th. However we have just noticed they have reported this to his credit file as a 1.
He is going to phone again tomorrow I just wondered if anyone has had this successfully removed from their credit file.

Banks will cancel direct debits after 13 months of non-use. This was nothing to do with the credit card company, purely your current account bank. The reporting of the late payment is correct, however if you ask nicely the the credit card company may remove it as act of goodwill.2

He could ask, but it's very unlikely.
However, one late payment will have negligible impact, so not worth worrying over.0 -
Thank you - it hasn’t had a massive affect on his credit score as everything else is fine - it’s just typical it’s happened just now as we have applied for a mortgage! His current acc is also with the TSB so maybe if he asks nicely they may as a goodwill gesture.1

It doesn't matter if it affects his score or not. That's just a comedy gimmick for your own entertainment.
The reality is that a single missed payment on a good credit file is nothing to worry about, although his timing isn't perfect. But if everything else stacks up, it should be fine.1 -

I had the same issue with a dormant DD and a missed payment for £10 to a Tesco Credit Card.
They could not remove the late payment from my file, I am finally waving goodbye to it 6 years later.

I also had this with an M&S card I hadn't used for a long time and the DD went dormant. They removed the late payment fee and the market on my credit file.0
