EON dual fuel has been only charging for gas.

We pay direct debit, monthly. Same energy usage year on year so don't really bother checking apart from entering meter readings which we do when asked to.
Eon contract ending in a month, so I looked at the account and was shocked to see we're over £500 in credit.
Reason is that although I give meter readings, and these readings are recorded and show online, for some reason they haven't been billing for electricity.
Just arranged to switch to different provider as obviously I have no faith in Eon.
Is this sort of thing typical of Eon? Because of their foul-up, they are now suggesting our DD should be £17 a month, whilst trying to get us to sign for £85 a month on a new tarriff!
Crazy.

You'll probably find if you do move provider they'll notice they haven't charged you, so I hope you have enough set aside to cover the last year's worth of electricity (that and in addition to the credit you already have).  This will almost certainly be covered by Back Billing, after all if you've given them the meter readings and they've done nothing with them, that's their fault.

But on the other hand... you really should have read the bills and noticed the credit building up long before now in all honesty.  So as to who's fault it is, probably a bit of both.

Also be aware the DD isn't all you can eat per month.  That £17 (and the £85) is payment towards future energy.
