Ex Pat Bank Accounts

Living in Spain, 18 years, Barclays Current Bank Account held since 1973, is now being cancelled.

Finding it impossible to arrange another Bank Account in Uk without shelling out 50,000 pounds. Also poblems with UK Shares we hold we must have UK bank account to receive dividends and sales proceedds. Any one advise thanks.

Assuming you're referring to shares listed on a major exchange, it should be possible to hold them via Spanish brokers, linked to your local bank account there?

I assume you are looking at free bank accounts?
I think you will have to look at ex pat accounts based overseas - all main bricks and mortar banks will have them OR have you looked at the new digital banks such as Monzo or Starling?

I don't know about Monzo but Starling presently only has accounts for UK residents.
