Faulty laptop argos

Options
Hello
I have returned a faulty laptop to argos to be fixed. Its been 5 weeks now and it is still not fixed. It apparently took them over 3 weeks just to get it to repair centre.
They are blaming covid.
I have asked for refund but was told as argos don't have my laptop I can't get a refund and I should just wait.

I dont think 5 weeks I reasonable time to repair. How do I go about asking for a refund?
Thanks

  • Depends on a few things. How long have you had it? When did it first develop the fault? Is this the first time you've had it looked at by them?  Are you doing this under warranty or consumer rights?
  • I've had it for 5 months. First time repair. I didn't purchase any warranty with it.
  • Hi I returned a faulty laptop that I brought for my son 11 months ago,the paperwork states 7-10 days but up to 21 and you will be informed of any delays, that didn’t happen so I called them on 03456402020 for an update.it took over 2 weeks before it even got to the repair shop.it’s automatically covered for a year so you don’t need to purchase a warranty, but call that number for an update
  • Yes I called the number and was told that its been fixed but now and they are doign a quality control and should be ready next week. I don't know if I believe this.
Can I ask for some kind of compensation?

You can ask, but I doubt you will get anything, it's not like it's a fridge which (assuming somebody didn't have a freezer) could be considered essential.
