Green Homes Grant - Battery Storage for Solar Power

Hi Everyone,
I have been investigating the Green Homes Grant and wanting to see if anyone has found a way to get Energy Battery storage systems with this grant. Our home is only a few years old and built with Solar Panels on already. So I have all the main kit installed (Inverters etc) and also tap off solar energy to heat my water cylinder (hot water only/house is all electric).
Want I really want is to store my own energy generated by solar and not provide this back to the GRID (FIT - such a small rate!). I can then utilize the free energy storage during other times, especially the evenings. I know we have systems out there (Tesla Powerwall etc).

I have contacted the Grant company but the person I spoke with wasn't very helpful and just said no, didn't try to even give me ideas or anything.

But what I really wanted is to see if anyone has managed to find a way via the Green Homes grant regarding how this could be funded? Seems very unfair that we are already helping with Green energy production but getting to the next step is unavailable unless at my own expense (again). Appreciate any feedback.

Many thanks
.

A battery might save you money, but in reality, there's nothing "green" about them.  The amount of electricity you get out in the evening will always be slightly less than what weny in to charge them.  So when it comes to saving the planet, they are worse than nothing.
(I do have a battery - and I paid for it myself)
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • Reading the Scheme rules there is no mention of batteries. As has been said, batteries are not in any sense energy saving as with a Powerwall 2, for example, there is a 10% to 20% efficiency loss compared to the solar-generated electricity being exported to the Grid. It is also worth noting that VAT is charged at 20%* compared to 5% for solar PV.

    * There are some exceptions for older people and where a battery is installed as part of a new PV installation.

Haven't looked at this in any detail - but isn't the central plank of the scheme ,that a primary measure has to be carried out first ? ie Cavity wall insulation , loft insulation ?
