New Build Room Size Tolerance

Hi,
I have recently taken ownership of a new build property from Taylor Wimpey. As part of the reservation process I was shown and allowed to take a copy of the technical drawing for both the ground and first floor, which contain the precise measurements for each room/floor. Upon measuring each room there is up to an 8cm reduction in length in some rooms.

I have consulted the Taylor Wimpey website, which states 'Where given room dimensions are maximums, ± 50mm, and include any fitted wardrobes or similar features.'. I interpret this to mean that the room sizes can vary by either 50mm larger or smaller.

I'm in two minds about whether to challenge TW regarding this as there isn't anything physically they can change about the property now and I
don't want to necessarily embroil myself in the stress of challenging them, if I indeed have the right to do so. However I currently feel that I should be compensated in some way.

Has anyone had any prior experience of this sort of thing or advice on potentially the best way to approach this?

Thanks in advance

We have a copy of the technical drawings for our DWH house. Our room sizes are also smaller than shown on the drawing because the decision was taken to increase the cavity wall width and increase the insulation thickness. This made all of the rooms smaller than shown on the technical drawings but not by enough to worry about.

What did you expect to do with your extra 80mm?

Hi, thanks for your speedy response! That's interesting to know about your own experience.
I am aware that it might come across that its 'only 8cm', which maybe in the grand scheme of things is quite small in size, but when there's another 6cm off another wall in the same room it all adds up. I didn't have particular plans as such with the 8cm it in some respects other than to use it as a living space for my furniture etc.

Your rights, if any (there won't be any...) are stated in your contract. In commercial property the usual tolerance is 5% of floor area, and I'm guessing your 8cm length isn't as significant as that.

The dimensions given are +- 50mm, and your dimensions are 80mm different. So you're talking about 30mm difference to the plan...

Are all your rooms smaller?  Is your house now smaller?  We were told our en-suite was smaller than plan but wardrobe larger so we still had the same size house.

All measurements should come come of a single datum
If the distance to one wall is +- 50mm and the distance to a far wall can be +- 50mm from the datum  the length of the room can be +-100mm

Did you measure wall to wall or skirting board to skirting board?
