Refund vouchers

I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. I paid this year for. Hoseasons break (which then had to be cancelled due to Coronavirus). The break was paid in part by debit card and part by voucher that had been issued by my company as part of a rewards scheme. I was intending to move my break to next year but Hoseasons are not renewing the contract with the holiday park in question and cannot offer a suitable alternative. They have offered me a refund but said that because I paid in part by voucher, they will refund me that amount by voucher. I dont want a voucher I cannot use! Is this something I have to accept or can I request the full monetary value of the break to be paid back onto my debit card?

There are certain travel arrangements (e.g. package holidays and airlines) that are covered by prescriptive regulations that may enforce full cash refunds, but if your break isn't in any such category then I'm not aware of anything that would compel them to refund in cash what you originally paid in voucher form, and the bank chargeback scheme would likewise not help you here as it only covers what was paid by card.  Would your company take the voucher back in the circumstances perhaps?

You could use the viuchee at another park or try slling it on either a local selling site or ebay.

Ivthink thats the only choices you have

You paid with a voucher so you get a voucher back. Debit card chargeback will only cover what was paid on card.
  • Vouchers are never redeemable for cash.  If you really can’t find anything to book then you are not going to be out of pocket yourself.  But am sure you could find something even if it isn’t your first choice.

I think it quite reasonable that the refund amount is made back to the original source, so if a shopping credit voucher then so be it.

The OP has not given much detail as to what type of reward voucher or credit was awarded and who operates the scheme.  Love2Shop certainly used to be a popular employee reward scheme. If similar, perhaps other options including non-holiday ones, could be looked at to spend the credit.
  • Need some advise on the following matter please. I booked my package holiday with Teletext in January this year and due to Covid-19 the package holiday was cancelled on the 7th of May 2020. We were supposed to fly out on the 28th of May 2020 for 7 nights in Kos. I still haven't heard anything from them about my refunds. I was told I will get my Refund credit note before end of July and I can exchange this for a full cash refund in August or end of August. They haven't had the decency to email me and let me know anything about refunds or cashback to this day. I still don't have any refund credit note or full refund. I'm a little concerned and worried. How can I can get my full refund from Teletext. Every time you try to call them it takes about 50 to 70 minutes to get through, then they fob you off or the call gets cut off. Payments were made by debit an credit cards towards this holiday.

Your well past the 120 days for a Debit chargeback.
Section 75 claim on your Credit Card for the whole amount.
  • Thanks. Credit card limit is smaller than the refund amount. Can I get them to refund the amount to my bank account instead?

Krishp - I think inadvertently you have tagged and hijacked another thread which is actually about another type of issue (part payment using a shopping credit type reward voucher).  If you do a forum search you will likely find a few threads on Teletext. You might wish to read those and see if others have reported similar situations to your one and if so how they have resolved the problem.
  • Apologies and thanks
