Moving day but not paying for a cleaning service

Well obviously you cant, but as the OP hasnt actually told us if she is living in rented or bought property at the moment, my advice still stands until she tells us

Given she is overly worried about how clean the old property needs to be, I would hazard a guess she is living in rented0 -
I just did this. as soon as the movers moved everything from one room, I went and washed the floors and any marks I saw ( where things had been hanging). That way It took me 30 mins after they had gone to finish.

employ a cleaning company to do a 'between tenancy' clean for property A if the buyer has asked for this. if they haven't asked then just do a hoovering of the house when all the stuff have been moved.
you can clean property B yourself when all the stuff are in, or get a cleaner round to do it for you.1 -
Oh that doesn't sound too bad...thanks!! Been stressing over the move for months now, will be relieved when it's finally done.Joyful said:I just did this. as soon as the movers moved everything from one room, I went and washed the floors and any marks I saw ( where things had been hanging). No, I own the current property, so it's the hassle of moving from A to B all in one day. Thanks to the advice from people here though, I do feel more reassured.bradders1983 said:This is why you always have an overlap of a couple of days with old house empty, if people dont try to factor this in during a house move then more fool them. This is easier if you are moving from rented to bought property, granted.0 -
Things like kitchen cupboards can be cleaned as you pack, most of what you clean on the day should be behind where furniture was sat etc.
I went round last time and cleaned every lightswitch, plug socket etc. I don't think I'd bother again, the house we moved into was not even remotely cleaned. On the other hand, we spent an hour trapped in the kitchen while the removal men struggled with the sofa so I had plenty of time in which to do so!
With regards to the kids....When you strip each bed in the morning, leave the duvet cover on etc and bundle the bedding into a black bag for each bed, then make putting their bed up and making it one of the first things that you do in the new house. Same goes for yours. Having somewhere to fall asleep when you need it is invaluable!

I gave the kitchen and bathroom a good clean in the week the lead up to the move, washing out each cupboard and drawer as it was emptied. I also cleaned any built in cupboards as they were emptied. Everything else wasn’t daunting once the rooms were emptied. I just needed to dust/wipe the skirting boards and walls where furniture had been and give it a good hoover.0

Don't bank on having the house ready for when the kids finish school - last year I helped a friend move, and we were sat outside the estate agent at 4:45PM still waiting for keys!

Was going to say this, you should definitely plan for NOT being ready for the kids coming home.mattyprice4004 said:Don't bank on having the house ready for when the kids finish school - last year I helped a friend move, and we were sat outside the estate agent at 4:45PM still waiting for keys!
Pack the essentials separately, loo roll, pyjamas, bedding, kettle etc.0 -

It was an absolute nightmare - luckily they did the same, had the basics etc separate and ended up unpacking until about 1am.
