This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Good morning, how did you get on RR?
Back to very little sleep for me but I don't have to do anything particularly taxing today so it doesn't much matter. It is cold but dry - made the mistake of looking at the weather forecast, the rain is meant to return this morning, then a nicer afternoon. The heating has just kicked in, for which I'm profoundly grateful as even in fluffy socks, my toes were icy.
No fascinating plan here, I'm just going to potter about aimlessly and drink tea. Hope everyone has a decent day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Morning all
I have not been up this time for quite a while and its very cold I have just put the heating on for a while to warm the place through.
I had my covid test yesterdaynot the most pleasant thing I have ever done, I gagged a lot and my eyes were watering but its over in seonds the person doing it had no sence of humour at all though which made it worse
I went from there to have another blood test to cross match my blood and then came home.
Today its back to the hospital for the radioactive jab in the breastand a scan, the radioactive stuff is blue and then travels to the lymph node and makes that blue so the surgeon can easily identify it tomorrow, the jab is hugely painful but only lasts seconds, the upside of the jab is that it makes your wee blue
and sometimes your poo as well much ammusement !!
Dinner tonight will be a jacket spud with cheese ham and salad you have to have a plain meal the night before an op and this is always a safe bet.
I need to strip the beds after this as when I get back from hospital today I have to have a shower in this special stuff they gave me and wash my hair and then get into clean pyjamas and clean sheets on the bed tonight, I also have to have clean towels and a new toothbrush and they even said a new comb !! I then have to shower again in the morning with all new towels etc!! its a lot of fuss but I am sure it will be worth it.
I also have to finish packing my bag and put the last few bits in.
Ok better get some toast and get ready, have good days all xx15 -
Morninbg All
It's not raining! I hope we have a dry day and a little bit of sunshine would cheer everyone up.
RR- glad it wasn't too bad for you yesterday and today goes well. I will be thinking of you tomorrow.
I went to Ikea yesterday after work as I thought it would be closing through the next lockdown but it isn't, not sure how smelly candles and sofas are essential but there we are. I got everything I went for apart from the lego boxes but they can wait. There was no queue to get in and only a 5 minute wait at the checkout so not a bad trip.
I got the SIM for my new phone so am slowly working out how to use it, I think I'm getting too old for all this technology lark!
Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX15 -
Morning folks and thanks RR for the start. I just want to wish you well, both for today and tomorrow, and hope everything goes as well as it can do.
Nothing exciting on the agenda here (is there ever these days!) Yesterday's Tesco delivery arrived all p & c. Two subs but to my benefit so no complaints about that! Same Groundhog Thursday, so will do the kitchen and bathroom as usual then, unless some GUAG hits me, it will be an afternoon of sloth. Even my reading mojo has deserted me.
Take care one and all, especially RR, and ((HUGS)) for all else who need them. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"15 -
Morning
Welcome to the early shift on the bench Rubes. Hope today goes as well as it can that injection sounds horrificRoll on Saturday when it will be all done and you can focus on recovery
I have two two hour team sessions to get through today which I could do without. Not much else will happen around the sessions as I find the pretty draining.
What does everyone fancy for brekky on the bench? Im thinking eggs benedict and maybe some of nannies welsh cakes from the trolley
Burger night tonight so easy peasy
Have a good day all x15 -
Morning everyone
Just having a quick catch up with my breakfast.
Red Ruby hope all goes well for you
Dark and dull here and meant to feel like -3 so not looking forward to whizzing down the hill on my bike to work.
Hoping everyone has a good day15 -
Morning all, I'm up early again after a broken sleep.I have stripped the bed and put the bedding in the wm. As it's supposed to be a nice partly sunny day, but cold, I'll take a chance on putting it on the whirly, it can have some fresh air if nothing else. I have a Morries delivery coming 9-10am but I haven't heard whether there are subs yet, they're a bit lax here, I'm really not fussed on them but it's the first slot I could get. After I've cleaned, sorted then divvied up the shopping , I'll take it up to Dad's. He has a few tasks ready for us, pay his council tax and have a look at his broken doorbell. We will come home the long way round to give the car a run too. Later I shall remake the bed and clean through upstairs.Tea tonight will be leftover HM chicken curry with rice / chips, there is some leftover fruit salad for pud.RedRuby I am glad the test went ok-ish yesterday. I hope the injection goes well today and good luck with your op tomorrow, I shall be thinking of you.Take care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently15

Morning all.RR - that injection sounds really painful. Blue wee and poo is a gift though. 😀Today is looking rather crowded for once. Cleaner is coming so I'll go out for the things I forgot to buy yesterday. Then I have my hair cut, an online committee meeting ☹️ and then an online talk about an historic building. Got to fit DM in there somewhere!
The shops were rammed yesterday. Huge numbers of people buying vast amounts of stuff. Supermarkets are staying open so I'm baffled. Today I need brown sauce (horrible stuff), tartare sauce (more horrible stuff) and veggies for soup.My thoughts are with RR. I'm perched on the lockdown bench waiting news.Wishing everyone energy today. Happy Thursday to all.13 -
Hi everyone, my earlyish post means that we are babyless today. I'm missing him and Laura already, Brian not so much because he wasn't here most of the time and when he was he was shut in the study working. I think today will be a lazy day trying to recuperate from sore muscles and joints after carrying Esben around so much.
I managed to book a flu jab for Monday, the first one I've ever had. I'm a bit nervous because I had a really bad reaction to a hepatitis B jab ages ago. It affected me for months, if not years. It won't stop me getting the coronavirus jab though.
Ruby, I hope all goes well today. Nelski, I hope the sessions don't take too much out of you.13 -
Good morning everyone
Red Ruby, I'm glad you coped with the swab, it's not nice as you say but over quickly. I will be thinking of you today and tomorrow and hope that it all goes as smoothly as possible, and at least you have a blue poo to look forward to at some point.
Well I'm still here recovering slowly. I have a horrible cough left over from one of my infections and it's making me so tired and achy , my bladder infection acquired from the catheter is still going strong despite the antibiotics but my legs are dry and comfortable so that's a positive. I am still so relieved to be at home and Steve is doing a fantastic job at looking after me. I had big plans of finishing off the present wrapping yesterday but I couldn't do much more than sit in a chair and answer phone calls and texts from my family and friends. Ah well, there is no rush.
Thank you for all the kind comments yesterday. I am off to have some Weetabix and a cup of tea so I will love you and leave you. Take care everyone xxx
