Halifax closed my account & then rejected my switch?

You state that companies contacted you same day.
No company can see a failed direct debit the same day it fails, due to the processing logistics.

In regards to your switch if Halifax are closing your account they can’t switch it when they’ve begun the process most likely.0

This Lloyds closure letter says that you can use the switch service. But there are other letters that say you can't if accounts have been blocked.1 -
System says yes on basic checks. Then they get manually checked for any errors & if any more ID is required. Also things like CIFAS can take a while to show up.jonesMUFCforever said:
Indeed it is - but if there is a CIFAS marker on there in a few days he suddenly will not be able to log into his account and the debit card will start to be declined.MalMonroe said:
But OP said this "I immediately attempted to switch to NatWest, sent off my ID, set up online banking, had my card & pin sent out to me in the post, & everything got accepted". So it would seem that the NatWest account is good to go.jonesMUFCforever said:One caveat to the OP if genuine.
If Halifax have closed the account due to perceived fraud and possibly put a CIFAS marker on - then there could be troubles ahead with the Nat West account too.
OP check with CIFAS to see if anything is on there.
I don't know why banks open accounts first then check afterwards.Life in the slow lane1 -
Ignore, the letter was not by the OP so comment invalid.0
